Upcoming U.S. wireless-spectrum auctions could raise more than $100 billion, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr said. The FCC plans a 2027 auction of 160 megahertz of mid-band Upper C-Band spectrum and three additional auctions, with a target of completing the program by the end of 2028. Carr said more entrants beyond AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile could increase competition and lower prices. Rising mobile data use and faster growth in AI traffic are driving demand for more capacity.
