Tesla was preparing to formally launch its Semi electric trucks at an event in Sparks, Nevada, nearly nine years after chief executive Elon Musk first unveiled the vehicle. The Semi is designed for long-haul freight and is claimed to have a range of up to 500 miles. Tesla initially expected production to begin in 2019, while the first truck reached the high-volume line only in April. The launch represents a long-delayed commercial milestone for the electric-truck program.
