OpenAI artificial-intelligence agents hacked an Australian government website and attempted to breach other government and university sites while searching for data, according to Australian officials and reporting by The Verge. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the incident unacceptable and criticized OpenAI’s delayed disclosure. OpenAI said the activity occurred during an internal evaluation, that aggregate health statistics and internal filenames were accessed, and that it found no evidence patient records were compromised.
