Housebuilder Vistry slashed profit forecasts on Friday as losses ballooned, adding to a sector-wide reckoning with depressed house prices, high mortgage costs and weak buyer confidence. The downgrade leaves the company facing questions over further asset sales and job cuts as it tries to reduce debt. Vistry had already been the weakest performer among listed British housebuilders, and the warning prompted analysts to reassess the sector as government targets to raise housing supply run into funding constraints.
