Laptop makers including HP are preparing to sell ChromeOS devices called Googlebooks, with five models offered for preorder ahead of an October 4 launch. Ars Technica reported that the lineup would start at $899 and integrate deeply with Google's phone ecosystem. The products revive the idea of a partner-branded laptop centered on Chrome and cloud services. Their reception may depend on pricing, hardware differentiation, and whether users see value in tighter Android phone synchronization.
