An additional three dozen health facilities serving more than 400,000 people in Sudan are closing during 2026 because of reductions in international aid, aid groups told the Associated Press. The losses compound damage already inflicted by more than three years of war, which had reduced a once extensive network of 6,500 primary-care facilities and 300 public hospitals. Doctors Without Borders warned that closures would leave displaced and medically vulnerable communities without essential services.
