A study published in Family Medicine and Community Health found that higher consumption of ultra-processed foods was associated with cardiovascular events, metabolic disease, and other health risks. Researchers reported that an additional 100 grams consumed daily corresponded to a 14 percent higher risk of cardiovascular events, while a 10 percent increase in dietary energy share was linked to greater metabolic-syndrome or diabetes risk. Experts suggested replacing common packaged foods with vegetables, fruit, and minimally processed alternatives.
